Fridays Finds: With a bit of History

I know I didn't post anything last week, but I was so busy with finals! I'm finally out of school for the summer!

I found quite a few goodies this week, including patterns! (of course!)

 First off, I found this vintage hat stand. I had never seen one for sale, so I snagged it! It was also a great addition for my online store.

The next thing I found was this mid century vase with shiny diamonds. I think it was $5 well spent!

On to the patterns! I found Simplicity 2321 from the 1930's for only a dollar! It was smartly hidden in a manilla envelope. I also found Simplicity 1700 from 1956.

Here's Simplicity 4321 from the 1940's and McCall's 6916 from the 1940's.

Here's my absolute favorite find! Butterick 2950 from the early 1940's. The one I have is dated 1944 and has the name of the bride on the back. I was curious and googled her name, but could only find her husband's name. I was really curious, so I ended up finding his obituary. I here learned that the bride and groom were married April 23rd, 1944 right after he got back from fighting WWII. I also learned that the bride, Opal, was born March 16th, 1921. All these patterns were hers, except for the 1930's one that belonged to her mother. Isn't it amazing the things you can find out?! I wonder if Opal is still out there, I know she was alive as of last spring.
